Disney releases Frozen II in theaters TODAY, and oh boy, have I got a cocktail to celebrate the return of Olaf, Anna, Elsa, etc. My friend Felice over at Disney Sips (a must-follow Instagram account devoted to all things drinkable in the Magic Kingdom) contacted me to see if I wanted to collaborate with her on this Disney Frozen cocktail for the upcoming release, and the answer was a resounding yes that surely reverberated off of the North Mountain. (See what I did there?) This delicious, boozy milkshake features vanilla bourbon, amaretto, and ice cream, and it’ll surely help you relax and “let it go” this holiday season. (No, the Frozen puns will not be ending anytime soon, so don’t even ask).
One of the things I loved about dreaming up this cocktail is its simplicity. This Disney Frozen cocktail gets its inspiration from a Chrissie, which is a Frangelico, vodka, and ice cream concoction served at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse here in Mobile.
Less of a happy hour tipple, this Permafrost cocktail is certainly meant to double as a dessert. It’s a grown-up vanilla milkshake, and what’s not to love about that?
It’s easiest to make this cocktail in a blender, but if you don’t have one, just let the ice cream sit out a bit to melt it and then combine with the rest of the ingredients and pour into your sugar-rimmed glasses. I garnished mine with a light-up blue ice cube that a friend lent me (it actually came from Disneyworld– so apropos). If you don’t have one of those, no worries.
Had a rough week? A boozy milkshake makes everything better, so why not try a Permafrost tonight before you head out to see Frozen II?
