flaming cocktail

For the finale of Game of Thrones, you know I had to go out in a blaze of glory. Enter this Dracarys flaming Game of Thrones cocktail. It’s a rum-based dragonfruit concoction, topped with a floater of Cruzan 151 and ignited. Because it wouldn’t be a Danaerys cocktail if it didn’t burn a little bit, amiright? (Too soon?)

This flaming Game of Thrones cocktail is best prepared at the beginning of the night so everyone has their wits about them. I discovered that Bacardi stopped making their 151, but Cruzan picked up the slack. Always use a long lighter, make sure no alcohol has spilled anywhere near, and remove any flammable materials away from the area. Before drinking it, blow out the flame and make sure it is truly extinguished. Pour it into a new glass to drink it, as the rim of the glass will be quite hot.

I’m probably in the minority, but I wasn’t surprised, at all, at the events of the last episode. This show has always conveyed how absolute power corrupts and exposed the baser elements of human nature. How can we expect our heroine to be immune?

So tonight, for the last time, I’ll raise my glass to the Mother of Dragons.

Danaerys Targarean cosplay
(Yes, that’s me in a Danaerys wig, attempting to look like I am wondering why Jon Snow didn’t just keep his mouth shut, trying very carefully not to spill my flaming cocktail while my husband takes photos and we guffaw at our ridiculousness. No, I don’t usually cosplay. Yes, I realize this is silly, but it made me laugh, and that’s good enough for me. Any more questions?)
