This second installment of my Game of Thrones cocktail series is one for the ages. The Mother of Dragons Cocktail is a vodka-based, exotic blend of cucumber, lemon, and dragonfruit, and it’s as intoxicating as Daenerys Stormborn herself.

Dragonfruit (also known as pitaya) is indigenous to Central America and Asia and is related to the cactus. It has either red or white flesh and distinctive black seeds. Its flavor is mildly sweet, somewhat like a kiwi or pear. As soon as I found frozen, cubed dragonfruit, I knew I’d have to incorporate it into a Mother of Dragons Cocktail honoring Danaerys. I was delighted to find how vibrantly colored the dragonfruit was, and I loved watching the color bleed into the drink. I didn’t want to add too many competing
Mother of Dragons Cocktail is a very simple cocktail to make. If you don’t love cucumber, substitute basil or mint. Swap gin for the vodka, if so inclined. You could even make this a mocktail by leaving the alcohol out entirely.
